Chametz 5785/2025 Form
AUTHORITY FOR THE SALE OF CHAMETZ – 5785 / 2025
Jewish Law requires that we do not posses any chametz for the duration of Pesach. In earlier times, it was relatively straightforward to ensure that all chametz was either eaten or disposed of before Pesach. Today, this may not be possible. Think, if you had to use up all your whiskey before Pesach! The simple solution to this problem is to put away in a secure place all chametz that cannot be consumed before Pesach. The Rabbi is appointed as an Agent to sell this chametz on your behalf. Whilst he would plan to buy back the chametz after Pesach, this is, in no way, a condition of the sale. In completing the form below, you are authorising Dayan Binstock to sell your chametz. If you have any queries about this or any other aspect of Pesach, please feel free to contact Dayan Binstock either at home or at the Synagogue.
Dayan Binstock has the full right to sell and to lease by transactions as he deems fit and proper for such time which as he believes necessary in connection with all detailed terms and forms as explained in the general contract of sale which will be drawn up by Dayan Binstock to sell the Chametz.
This authorisation is made part of that contract. I also give Dayan Binstock full power to appoint a proxy in his place with full power to buy and to sell and to lease as provided herein. This authorisation is given in conformity with all Torah and Rabbinical regulations.
I, the undersigned, fully empower and permit Dayan Ivan Binstock to act on my behalf to sell all Chametz possessed by me as of Friday 11th April 2025 at 7.30pm. This does not include Chametz that will be used at meals up to and including 10.45am on Shabbat 12th April. [Please note: Any Chametz remaining after the Shabbat meals should be disposed of appropriately.] The Chametz referred to in this document is that which I own (knowingly or unknowingly) as defined by Torah and Rabbinic law, especially in the premises located at:
