AUTHORITY FOR THE SALE OF CHAMETZ – 5786/ 2026

  • Delegation to sell Chametz below
  • Latest time for eating Chametz Erev Pesach, 1st April, 10:55am
  • Latest time for annulling your Chametz and disposing of any leftovers, Erev Pesach, 1st April, 12:00pm
  • It is essential that all Chametz is disposed of or sold before Pesach. If your Chametz is in more than one location, please add each one.
  • All Chametz-sale forms (online / post / email / in person) must be submitted by Tue 31st March, 11am to Rabbi Mendel Cohen.
  • Chametz will be bought back at approximately 30 minutes after Pesach ends (20:36) on Thu, 9 April 2026.
  • Note: Leading halachic authorities have ruled that online authorisations are acceptable for the purpose of selling chametz.
    The traditional and preferred practice is for the authorisation transaction to be done in person, you can download the form by clicking here please call Rabbi Mendel 07772 612 661 if you would like to sell in person.
Delegation of Power to Sell Chametz
I, the undersigned, fully empower and permit Rabbi Mendel Cohen to act in my place and stead, and on my behalf to sell all chametz possessed by me, knowingly or unknowingly as defined by the Torah and Rabbinic Law (e.g. chametz, possible chametz, and all kind of chametz mixtures). Also chametz that tends to harden and adhere to surfaces of pans, pots, or cooking utensils, the utensils themselves, as well as pet food that contain chametz and mixtures thereof.
Rabbi Mendel Cohen is also empowered to lease all places wherein the chametz may be found, particularly at the address/es listed below, and elsewhere. Rabbi Mendel Cohen has full right to appoint any agent or substitute in his stead and said substitute shall have full right to sell and lease as provided herein.
Rabbi Mendel Cohen also has the full power and right to act as he deems fit and proper in accordance with all the details of the Bill of Sale used in the transaction to sell all my chametz, chametz mixtures, etc., as provided herein. This power is in conformity with all Torah, Rabbinic and Civil laws.
