Cantor
Moshe Haschel and the Neimah Singers
Cantor Moshe Haschel was born in Argentina and in 1969 emigrated
with his family to Israel, where he acquired his Jewish and general
education at some of the most distinguished of Yeshivos. His love
of music and his talent for singing led to his graduation from the
Israel Institute for Cantorial Art in Jerusalem, where he studies
with some of the most eminent teachers including Cantor Naftali
Herstik and Cantor Moshe Stern.
After posts in Israel and South Africa, Cantor Haschel joined
Finchley Synagogue in 1988 and in 1997 became Cantor at our Synagogue.
His voice is a lyric tenor of excellent quality. Critics have
praised the natural attractive timbre of his voice and his control
of dynamics, which are underpinned by his sincerity of expression,
which combines passion and refinement. Moshe Haschel has received
great acclaim in his concerts around the world as well as in numerous
Radio, Television and sound recordings. He has performed in the
50th Anniversary celebration of the State of Israel as well as in
the first Televised Holocaust Memorial Ceremony in the presence
of HRH Prince Charles. Prince Charles was so impressed by our Cantor
Haschel that he requested a copy of the CD for his personal collection!
