Ladies Guild

We, the ladies of St John's Wood, invite you to join in the many activities, both fund-raising and social, organised by our Guild.

Whilst not quite the Calendar Girls we do have a very full calendar and are, indeed, the equivalent of the "WI" of St John's Wood United Synagogue.

Our annual Card Lunch is always a great attraction – and we even encourage the gentlemen to attend, as we do at our excellent Supper Quiz evening – next one is on Sunday, 11th May 2008.

We organise a variety of outings for members and friends, and recent trips include a visit to the 02 to see the much acclaimed Tutankhamen exhibition, and the Age of Couture at the Victoria and Albert was a real success with our fashion loving ladies! Finally our most recent visit to the Royal Academy to see the new exhibition "From Russia" – we hope to see some new faces joining us!

Proceeds from our fund-raising functions are shared between particular charities and the needs of the Shul - such specific items that are required for the refurbishment or community occasions.

We host a monthly "Tea and a Chat" for slightly older members, who join us for a most enjoyable afternoon, and for card lovers the Monday afternoon weekly duplicate bridge attracts a large number of players – often a full house!

The St John's Wood Ladies Guild has been in existence around 100 years and would welcome any new members and ideas – we need you, and who knows – you might just need us. The ladies are always available to offer advice or a friendly word and can be reached through the Synagogue Office on 020 7286 3838. Annual subscription is £5.
